A few coworkers are on “detox” diets. They are eating only fruits and vegetables for X days.
I didn’t understand it, and still don’t.
Not saying it’s wrong, but I haven’t seen any data that supports a heavily skewed diet like this actually being good for you (if you have any, let me know; I’m interested).
This is where the coworkers and I differ.
Amidst some admittedly skeptical comments, I asked for the science behind their decision. They could produce none, instead providing this basic argument:
I know my body. I need to do this every so often and it helps me. I can feel it.
And that’s la rub. Many times, the Data doesn’t matter; it’s how you feel and what you think makes sense, Data be damned.
When you are marketing an idea or a product or a story (is there a difference?), the right data will sway some of the population… but most of the population is not convinced by something as far out as “data.”
They’re convinced by how they feel. They’re convinced by how you make them feel.
